Stop 1: Vaduz, Liechtenstein – The Fairytale Capital
Our journey begins with a scenic drive through Switzerland into the tiny principality of Liechtenstein, home to just under 40,000 residents. Nestled between Austria and Switzerland, Vaduz, the capital, is a picturesque blend of old-world charm and modern elegance.
Stroll down the pedestrian-friendly Städtle (main street), admire the art and architecture, and gaze up at the majestic Vaduz Castle, perched dramatically on the hillside — the official residence of the Prince of Liechtenstein. For a fun souvenir, stop by the tourist center to get your passport stamped with the official Liechtenstein seal!
Stop 2: Bregenz, Austria – Panoramic Views from Pfänder Mountain
A short drive takes us across the Austrian border to Bregenz, a vibrant town on the eastern shore of Lake Constance. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to take the Pfänder cable car up to the summit at 1,064 meters.
The view from the top is nothing short of breathtaking — the deep blue lake stretches out below, surrounded by rolling hills, alpine peaks, and charming lakeside villages in Austria, Germany, and Switzerland. Whether you hike the trails or simply enjoy the panorama, a trip to Pfänder is always worth it.
Stop 3: Lindau, Germany – Lighthouse on the Lake
Next, we travel into Germany to visit Lindau, a beautiful island town on the Bavarian side of Lake Constance. Famous for its 19th-century lighthouse and Bavarian lion statue that guard the harbor, Lindau is the southernmost lighthouse in Germany — a true hidden gem.

Explore the Monastery of St. Georgen, one of the best-preserved medieval monasteries in Europe. Visit the Lindwurm Museum, which offers insight into 19th-century Swiss life. Don’t miss the impressive Hohenklingen Castle, overlooking the town since 1225, offering spectacular views of the Rhine and surrounding countryside.
Stein am Rhein is also home to the oldest Christian place of worship in the Canton of Schaffhausen — the Church of St. John the Baptist, surrounded by the ancient remnants of the Roman fortress Tasgetium, built in the 3rd century AD.
